General aviation pilots are famous for taking passengers to some of the most scenic locations in the country, but nothing beats the region surrounding the Grand Canyon in Arizona. If you are planning a trip to the Grand Canyon National Park, then this aviation services directory will help you stay informed about the Grand Canyon National Airport (KGCN).

Located just seven miles from the Grand Canyon’s South Rim, KGCN is usually bustling with charter flights and scenic tour planes, but it does offer some scheduled commercial flights. According to the FAA, KGCN is now categorized as a commercial service airport, effective with the National Plan of Integrated Airport Systems.Originally designed as an airfield for the U.S. Forest service, KGCN first started offering commercial flights in 1925, with a new airport terminal completed in 1967. The popularity of the Grand Canyon has made KGCN a popular destination for Arizona visitors.

Following Sky Harbor International in Phoenix and the Tucson International Airport, KGCN is the now the third most active airport in Arizona. Elevated at 6,609 feet above sea level, it covers an 859 acre area. Three FBOs provides aviation services at KGCN. When flying into Grand Canyon National Park Airport, they can be contacted directly on 122.95. Upon landing, a staff member will come down and pick up air passengers and returns pilots to the FBO office, where fuel can be ordered. Additional aviation services include vending machines and ground transportation into town. There are also taxicabs that provide fixed-rate transportation into the park.
